The most prominent enhancements to MSDgen 5.08 include new features to help customers author hazard communication documents that comply with Europe's Registration, Evaluation and Authorization of Chemicals (REACH) regulatory framework for chemical substances as well as the Globally Harmonized System (GHS) for classification and labeling of chemicals. REACH-specific enhancements include support for a new IUCLID5 Export mechanism, which allows the user to select any set of materials from within MSDgen and export the data for these materials into a IUCLID5 compatible file format. New GHS enhancements include updating the GHS classification procedures to incorporate the complete set of GHS hazard determination logic and the addition of new country-specific GHS "building block" adaptations.
MSDgen 5.08 also seamlessly integrates with 3E Company's award-winning Ariel WebInsight regulatory data reference tool for WebInsight subscribers. With this new feature, any set of materials that are present in a customer's corporate product MSDS database can now be easily uploaded into Ariel WebInsight where more detailed research on these materials can be performed. The integration between MSDgen and WebInsight is a significant milestone for 3E Company as it continues to fulfill the promise of product integration following the Company's acquisition of HSE Systems. The MSDgen and Ariel teams have worked together to ensure the optimization of 3E Company's award-winning Ariel chemical regulatory data, which is used by 70% of the world's top chemical manufacturers. The already powerful MSDgen Disclosure Module has been further enhanced to allow advanced disclosure specifications to be set at the material level for those materials that are used as ingredients. This new option allows users to set default behavior for a substance once at the material level, and carry forward these specifications when the material is used as an ingredient in other mixtures.
