Chemical Distributors
3E Company provides a comprehensive, outsourced solution for the chemical distributor industry's EH&S information and compliance needs as well as meeting Responsible Distribution Process™ Requirements.
Chemical distributors are a vital sector of the chemical industry and an essential component of the chemical supply chain. Virtually every sector of the manufacturing industry relies on distributors for the availability of chemicals in a variety of grades and package sizes to produce their products. Distributors have many EH&S responsibilities and compliance requirements. Events in recent history have forced distributors to focus additional resources towards safety and security- measures that require distributors to adopt programs that address facility and transportation safety and security. With the average chemical distribution company having only 25 full-time employees, assigning fully dedicated, highly skilled resources to focus on these issues is a luxury most distributors do not have- and if they do, these resources are stretched thin.
3E and Arielâ„¢ services can enable chemical distributors to reduce costs, increase EH&S staff productivity, and reduce risk. 3E and Ariel services have proven to deliver increased efficiencies and improved compliance for satisfied customers all over the world, including many chemical distributors.
MSDS Distribution
The Responsible Distribution Process (RDP) requires distributors to provide guidance and information to customers, warehouses, terminals, contactors and/or carriers on safe handling and storage of hazardous materials. Ariel MSDS Distribution Services ensure that a distributor's MSDSs are either sent to, or accessible by their customers using client defined schedules or business rules.
MSDS Authoring
Distributors who take title to bulk and/or non-bulk chemicals from a manufacturer or supplier and re-sell the chemicals, or perform custom or specialty blending require a new MSDS be provided to the end-user. Outsourcing the authoring of MSDSs to a staff of highly qualified multi-lingual authors can alleviate the burden from internal staff, freeing them up to focus on other strategic tasks. 3E employs all Ariel MSDS Authoring staff and does not use sub-contractors. The 3E philosophy is that all customers should have direct contact and access to the associate authoring the MSDS and not have to work through third parties. In addition, the Ariel MSDS Authoring staff uses Ariel regulatory, transportation and scientific data as a reference during the authoring process. Ariel data is considered the highest quality, most reliable resource for global chemical regulatory information by 70% of the world's top chemical manufacturers.
Vendor MSDS Management
Chemical distributors are also required to manage vendor MSDSs that accompany the products they buy and use in their own operation for the safety of their employees. 3E MSDS Management services enable distributors to streamline the management of their hazardous materials inventory and associated MSSs as well as obtain MSDSs directly from the manufacturer, helping address the Risk Management RDP Requirement.
24-7-365 Emergency Response
RDP requires distributors to provide a process for responding to, reporting on and investigating incidents and releases involving chemicals. Distributors can place 3E's toll free phone number on their MSDSs and shipping documents, enabling customers or other relevant parties to call the 3E HazMat Mission Control Center 24-7-365 for live guidance in emergency situations. 3E will advise callers, as appropriate, on medical or health risks, mixing and reactivity hazards, PPE (personal protective equipment), spill cleanup procedures and product disposal.
Waste Management
3E Waste Management services can help distributors ensure that all generated waste and empty containers are disposed responsibly and in accordance with regulations. 3E negotiates the best possible contract with pre-qualified haulers for pickups on pre-arranged dates. 3E coordinates the entire process, including the waste pick up, transportation, disposal of at a client designated TSDF and reports to appropriate federal or state agencies. 3E can also provide assistance with the identification and classification of items that may be regulated as hazardous waste at the Federal and State-specific level.
