SAPPHIRE NOW and ASUG Annual Conference: Data is Still King

Earlier this week, members of our SAP team gathered in Orlando for ASUG’s Annual Conference. The event has been a whirlwind thus far, with a stellar keynote speech by Lance Armstrong, and a steady flow of meetings with customers and prospects alike.  Now that we have several meetings under our collective belt, we have noticed two common themes emerging:

  • Data is Critical.  Productive business and regulatory compliance management demands access to a wide range of reliable and comprehensive content, including substance-level regulatory content, supplier SDS documents and associated data points, as well as product compliance data.  Many of the supply chain and material managers whom we are meeting with are facing increasingly difficult product compliance challenges that demand powerful and specialized content management capabilities.
  • The Impact of GHS is Being Felt Throughout the Supply Chain.  OSHA GHS (HazComm 2012) is bringing enormous operational change and will greatly impact product stewardship, hazardous communications and safety management programs. Implementing GHS compliance activities into the enterprise has multiple complex implications for technology, data, and operational management.  Most companies have launched initiatives aimed at facilitating compliance with this new standard, but many are overwhelmed and still trying to figure out where to start.  If you would like to get a better understanding of what a comprehensive and successful GHS compliance management program entails, I will be presenting alongside our customer Bluestar Silicones, Wednesday, March 16 at 12:30 in room S320A.

Are you at SAPPHIRE/ASUG this week?  What have been the key themes that you have observed thus far?
